The Ascendant is the point on the eastern horizon that was rising at the moment of birth. It defines the "starting point" of the chart. It governs your social personality, physical appearance, and the "lens" through which you see the world. It is the first impression you make on others.

The Descendant is exactly opposite the Ascendant on the western horizon. It represents partnerships, marriage, and how you relate to others. It often describes the qualities you look for in a partner or the traits you "project" onto others.

Located at the very bottom of the chart, this is the lowest point of the meridian. It represents your roots, private life, home environment, and psychological foundations. It is the most hidden part of the chart.

Located at the very top of the chart, this is the highest point of the meridian. It represents your public image, career, reputation, and highest aspirations. It is the most visible part of your life.

The North Node is one of two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic. It represents the direction of growth, new skills to be learned, and the individual's future path. It indicates qualities you need to develop to achieve balance.

The South Node sits exactly 180° from the North Node. It represents your past, ingrained habits, and innate talents. It is where you feel most comfortable but can become stagnant.

Black Moon Lilith is a mathematical point along the Moon's orbit — specifically the lunar apogee, where the Moon is farthest from the Earth. It represents the "shadow side" of the personality, including repressed desires, raw instincts, and areas where a person refuses to submit to societal expectations.

Chiron is a centaur, a small solar system body located between Saturn and Uranus. Known as the "Wounded Healer," Chiron represents a deep, persistent psychological or emotional wound that is difficult to heal in oneself but allows the person to provide profound wisdom or healing to others.

The Vertex is a mathematical intersection of the prime vertical and the ecliptic, often referred to as the "Third Angle" of a chart. It functions as a point of "fated" encounters. It is often activated when you meet people who significantly change the course of your life or when external events beyond your control occur.

The Part of Fortune is a calculated point based on the positions of the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. It indicates the "sweet spot" in a person's life where they find the most harmony, success, and natural flow. It represents where your personality (Ascendant), emotions (Moon), and vitality (Sun) work together most efficiently.
